Rendezvény leírása

  • The European Universities Initiative is a key initiative of the European Union, one of the main elements of the European strategy for universities. Its objective is to establish transnational alliances of higher education institutions (HEIs) promoting European values and amplifying the quality and competitiveness of European higher education.
  • The conference is part of the LTA “SPREAD EUI project currently being implemented by four National Agencies from Austria (OeAD), Hungary (Tempus Public Foundation), Norway (HK dir) and Germany (DAAD). The LTA “SPREAD EUI” is a follow-up project to the TCA conference on European Universities Alliances “Spreading innovative results from European University Alliances to other higher education institutions” which took place in Bergen, Norway, in May 2023. The LTA SPREAD EUI serves the mission to support alliances to act effectively as role models; it intends to support the transfer of experiences for the benefit of HEIs that are not part of the European Universities Initiative.
  • This thematic conference will provide a networking platform to exchange good practices and transferable outcomes of the alliances to HEIs yet not engaged in the initiative.
  • It will bring together around 150 participants from all over Europe, including representatives from alliances and from HEIs not yet involved as well as other stakeholders at national and European level, such as student representatives, other EU projects on the EUI, National Agencies and the European Commission.
  • The main aim of the conference is to spread good practices and transferable outcomes from European Universities alliances to higher education institutions not involved in the initiative. Participants will be selected in such a way that the balance of representatives from these alliances and from non-alliance institutions is ensured. The conference programme will be designed to provide participants with opportunities to connect, share experiences, identify good practices and learn more about the transformative impact of the alliances in Europe. It will also take into account the needs of HEIs that are not part of a European Universities alliance.
  • For more information on the work of the European Universities alliances and the possible benefits for higher education, please visit the dedicated website of the European Commission (The European Universities alliances in action - European Education Area).

Expected results:

  • The conference will provide a space/environment for the European Universities alliances to share and discuss their transferables outcomes with interested HEIs not yet engaged in the initiative and other stakeholders. Participants will reflect on the alliances’ mission as role models for the entire European education landscape and on the necessities of HEIs yet not involved.
  • The conference will provide an opportunity to showcase innovative activities, formats, methods and results of alliances. In various plenary sessions and interactive workshops, participants will discuss good practice examples, opportunities, challenges and lessons learned. Alliances will present their most promising activities and transferable results, such as joint educational offers, micro-credentials, innovative mobility formats, digitalisation and skills development.
  • The conference strives to foster the complementarity, co-creation and knowledge-sharing among alliance members and non-members. It will intensify the discussion on how to disseminate the findings and potential benefits for all HEIs.
  • It will also offer an opportunity to discuss the impact of the initiative on national and European policies. NAs and national authorities will exchange their views on the effects of the European Universities Initiative (e.g. reflecting on obstacles of international cooperation, updating national strategies for internationalization) and the support they provide in their respective countries.
